CHEC Port City Colombo (Pvt) Ltd. has stepped forward with financial aid and critical on-ground support to assist Sri Lanka’s national recovery following the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah.

Announced on 2 December 2025, the company has donated Rs. 10 million to the Government’s newly established ‘Rebuilding Sri Lanka’ Fund, administered by the Presidential Secretariat. The contribution was officially handed over by Managing Director Xiong Hongfeng to Dr. Harshana Suriyapperuma, Secretary to the Treasury, with coordination from the Colombo Port City Economic Commission.

Beyond financial assistance, Port City Colombo has mobilized significant resources on the ground. A fleet of 12 disaster-response machines—including excavators, loaders, backhoes, flatbed trucks and dump trucks—has been deployed to support debris clearance, road repairs, and emergency recovery operations across affected districts. The company has also assigned specialised engineering teams to assist with urgent bridge and road reconstruction work, ensuring connectivity is restored to isolated communities.

All required skilled personnel have been dispatched to maintain uninterrupted field support as responders work to rebuild damaged infrastructure and assist displaced families.

A 100% subsidiary of China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC), with more than 25 years of operations in Sri Lanka, Port City Colombo underscored its longstanding partnership with the country, affirming that its commitment extends beyond development projects to standing with communities in times of national crisis.
