According to the senior superintendent’s office Panadura, a police officer was arrested while smoking cannabis in the police station toilet. The officer in question’s services were immediately suspended by authorities.
The constable was assigned to the Panadura Superintendent of Police’s Divisional Criminal Investigation Division.
Mr. Nishantha Senaratne, Assistant Superintendent of Police in Panadura, has suspended the constable pending an investigation.
According to police sources, the concerned police constable was arrested yesterday (19) while smoking ‘ganja’ inside a toilet, and the police also seized a small ganja parcel in a small pink grocery bag while searching his travel bag.
After producing before the Panadura Magistrate Court, the suspect was granted bail.
