Kuliyapitiya Police have launched an investigation into the disappearance of 192 kilograms and 250 grams of copper, which was stored as evidence at the Kuliyapitiya Magistrate’s Court.
According to police, the copper was held in the court’s evidence room, designated for case materials. The court registrar reported the missing copper to the police on the 29th of this month.
This copper had been presented as evidence in a case submitted to the court by the Pannala Police Station.
A senior police official indicated that it appears the copper stock may have been stolen.
