It is now being revealed that the police have launched a big operation since early morning yesterday to prevent the opposition leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa from joining the opposition protest that started near the Elphinstone Theater.

Accordingly, in addition to putting pressure on the opposition leader, the police have also taken steps to address the opposition leader and send a letter informing him not to join the protest.

It is mentioned in this article that the opposition leader should not participate in the protest as it is illegal.

Accordingly, a moment after receiving this letter, SJB MPs met and discussed whether the leader of the opposition should participate in this protest.

There, some MPs have stated that the leader of the opposition should not participate in this as it is organized by various parties and not by a party.

But the leader of the opposition has indicated that he cannot stand aside as the leader of the opposition while the government is launching repression. Therefore, the leader of the opposition has indicated that he will join it for the sake of democracy.

However, the letter issued by the police to the opposition leader not to participate in the protest has been released to the media.
