Police Denies Army Intelligence Involvement in Stabbing Incident at Isurupaya Protest
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Police Media Division has issued a clarification regarding the recent incident where three police officers were reportedly injured with a sharp weapon during a protest in front of Isurupaya, Battaramulla.

According to the statement, no evidence has emerged to support claims that an Army Intelligence officer was responsible for these injuries.

The Thalangama Police are currently conducting an investigation into the matter. Meanwhile, on the directive of the Acting Inspector General of Police, the Police Special Investigation Unit has launched a separate inquiry to ascertain whether a court submission made that day included such allegations.

This clarification follows media reports suggesting that the Thalangama Police had informed the Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court that investigations indicated the individual who allegedly attacked the officers during the protest—a demonstration by school development officers demanding teacher appointments on December 2—was affiliated with Army Intelligence.
