The Sri Lanka Police have officially received the report from the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks.
Police Media Spokesperson, Senior Superintendent of Police and Attorney-at-Law Buddhika Manatunga, announced that a high-level committee has been appointed to thoroughly examine the report. This committee is chaired by Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Asanga Karawita.
The other members of the committee include:
DIG of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID)
Director of the Criminal Investigation Department
Director of the Terrorism Investigation Division
SSP Manatunga, addressing the media, noted that several sub-committees have also been formed under this main committee. These sub-committees are currently engaged in a detailed study of the Presidential Commission’s report.
He further stated that based on the findings from this ongoing analysis, new investigations will be launched into emerging matters.
Given the vast scale of the report—which comprises between 66,000 and 67,000 pages—SSP Manatunga emphasized that a meticulous review is in progress. Upon completion of this review, relevant investigations will be initiated, and appropriate legal actions will be taken against those found responsible.
