Police Media Spokesman Senior Superintendent of Police Nihal Talduwa said that police special duty officers have also been deployed to be called in case of emergency.
This traffic plan will be implemented from 5.00 pm today (31) to reduce the traffic congestion that may occur due to the New Year’s Eve celebrations.
Accordingly, the police said that traffic on many major roads in Colombo will be restricted to one direction only tonight (31).
Simultaneously, a special security program is also in place in the city of Colombo.
Meanwhile, tonight (31) many special programs have been planned to be implemented around the mouth of Galle targeting local and foreign tourists.
Due to this, a special traffic plan has been implemented in the related area since this afternoon, Police Media Spokesman Senior Superintendent of Police Nihal Talduwa added.
