It has been officially confirmed that Mr Namal Rajapaksa, the National Organizer of the Pohottuwa party, will be the party’s candidate for the upcoming presidential election in Sri Lanka.

The announcement of Mr Rajapaksa’s candidacy is scheduled for tomorrow. Additionally, preparations have been underway since last night to print and distribute the election manifesto nationwide.

Mr. Rajapaksa decided to run for president approximately two weeks ago. However, it was decided to keep this information confidential, even from close associates.

We have now obtained detailed information regarding the rationale behind Mr. Rajapaksa’s appointment as the presidential candidate, including the reasons influencing this decision, the location where it was made, the discussions held, and the individuals involved. This information will be disclosed in due course.

Attached is the leaflet that will be distributed across the country following the official announcement of Mr Rajapaksa’s candidacy.
