Mr. S. A. D. Jagath Kumara, the Member of Parliament of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna representing the government, as well as the General Secretary of the Union of Samurdi Development and Agricultural Research Production Assistant Officers, has taken the initiative to hand over this letter.

Mr. Jagath Kumara mentioned that the process of signing this letter started last week in Parliament, and fifty two MPs have signed it as of yesterday (21).

He said that as well as the ministers of the government, the MPs representing the opposition have also signed for this and after obtaining about seventy signatures, the letter will be handed over to the President.

He said that there has been a serious injustice by not including a large number of real poor people with low income in the Aswasuma subsidy program, which is a leading program of the government.
