The President of Mawanella ‘pradeshiya Saba’ representing the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, Samantha Stephen, has been arrested by the Bribery and Corruption Investigation Commission.
Further information is reported that the suspected chairman has tried to take a bribe in order to grant permission to construct a building in Mawanella town.
Accordingly, when he was about to accept a bribe from a businessman in a hotel in the Mawanella area, he was arrested by the officials of the Bribery Commission.
Meanwhile, a member of parliament from Kundasale Pohottu was arrested yesterday in connection with the robbery of ‘Sadagala’ in ancient Kandy.
