The members of Pohottuwe have informed the President that there were high police officers who supported the burning of the houses of the MPs during the recent riots and that they should be punished.
When the Ministers of Pohottuwe asked about this at the meeting of the ruling party MPs held yesterday, the Minister in Charge of Police Mr. Tiran Alas stated that investigations are going on in this regard and that the police officers who have been accused in this regard can mention the names of the high police officers who influenced them through village appeals.
Steps have already been taken to suspend several police officers based on this incident.
