General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam stated that if President Ranil Wickremesinghe leaves the United National Party and joins the Podujana Peramuna party, they might consider him for the presidential candidacy. He made this comment while speaking to the media after a discussion at the Podujana Peramuna party headquarters.
“We have not yet decided on the candidacy for the next presidential election. The right person will be presented at the right time. Our party will field a candidate under the Pohottuwa symbol.”
When asked if Ranil Wickremesinghe would be the common candidate, Kariyawasam replied, “The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna is presenting a candidate under the Pohottuwa symbol. If Ranil Wickremesinghe leaves the United National Party and joins Pohottuwa, we will consider it.
