Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation, Bimal Ratnayake, stated that raising the wages of plantation workers has become a significant challenge for the government.
He noted that both the Ministry of Plantation Industries and the Ministry of Finance are continuously engaging in efforts to address the matter.
The Minister made these remarks while speaking to the media following an inspection tour of the Nanu Oya Railway Station.
Further commenting, Minister Ratnayake said that steps will be taken in the future to provide bonuses to profitable depots.
