The Archbishop of Colombo His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith Therapano said that instead of providing relief to the citizens who are currently in a desperate situation, the main stakeholders in the tourism industry including the ministers in charge of the subject are preparing to spend a lot of money to celebrate Christmas.

“Christmas is almost here. I saw the heads of the tourism sector including the Ministers in charge of tourism planning to decorate the city of Colombo with light bulbs to celebrate the Christmas festival. what’s the matter? Pockets are empty. Sri Lanka has become a beggar country from every country in the world. He said during a mass held on Monday that empty pockets are the result of fake shows.

Archbishop Ranjith, who said that money is currently being printed and distributed, said that a country cannot continue in this way.

He said that if the leaders have real concern for the poor people, they will not waste their time in Parliament, but instead go to the people and find out about their sufferings.

However, he said that the current members of Parliament are neglecting their duty to solve the problems of the people and are accusing each other in Parliament.
