A Sri Lankan flight was cancelled today as well in the background of a strong controversy regarding flight delays in the country.
There has been a lot of talk in the country these days regarding the delay of Sri Lankan flights.
Two days ago there was also a flight delay and the unrest in the airport was circulated rapidly on social media.
SriLankan Airlines stated on that day that the delay was due to the simultaneous occurrence of technical faults in several planes.
Today’s cancellation took place in such a background.
Flight UL 181 was delayed today.
The plane was supposed to leave Katunayake Airport at 8.20 a.m. today for Kathmandu, Nepal.
The passengers were boarded at around 07.15 am, but the flight did not take off until 11.00 am.
Passengers who were very inconvenienced by the delay were also able to see some recorded footage of it.
The passengers alleged that due to a technical error, they said that another flight would be provided, but that did not happen either.
Many domestic and foreign passengers expressed their displeasure at the airport.
However, the flight was cancelled after hours of delay.
We inquired with the Ministry of Port Shipping and Aviation about these flight delays, which tarnish the country’s national aviation brand.
There they said that a special meeting will be held at the Ministry under the chairmanship of Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva tomorrow at 9.30 am to inquire about flight delays.
SriLankan Airlines management officials and all trade union representatives are also going to join it.
