Former President  and Member of Parliament Mahinda Rajapaksa says that the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna is never afraid of elections.

He points out that many political parties have not recognized the aspirations of the people at the village level.

Addressing the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna’s Monaragala District Constituency Committee meeting, former President and Member of Parliament Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa expressed these views.

“Some had won in the past few days. Like an inflatable ball. Now it has started coming down. When these people were asked to come and take over the country, those two people who were shouting did not take over the country at that time.

They know how much they can do. Friends, it is people like these who ask if we are afraid of voting. We are not afraid of an election. We are a party that has done work for the village. Otherwise, you won’t be able to vote in the village after winning on TV, winning in the newspaper. If they are not afraid of voting, why do they always irritate the people?

Today, they have fallen to the point of taking school children and on the other hand patients as hostages to win their demands. It is not a mistake to win labor rights. But if they take people hostage and destroy the economy and people’s lives, they are committing a great crime.”
