The Secretary General of Parliament, Mrs. Kushani Rohanadheera, has confirmed that the privileges granted to Members of Parliament (MPs) remain unchanged, with no reductions made so far.

Addressing the media, Mrs. Rohanadheera revealed that a total of 35 applications have been submitted for MPs’ housing accommodations. She explained that approximately 25 to 30 houses previously occupied by former MPs are currently under renovation. Once these renovations are complete, the houses will be allocated to MPs based on priority.

Out of the 108 housing units available, 80 are designated for ruling party MPs, while 28 are reserved for MPs representing the opposition. Furthermore, MPs residing more than 40 kilometers from Parliament are eligible to apply for these housing facilities.

In other updates, Mrs. Rohanadheera announced that the first parliamentary week of the inaugural session of the 10th Parliament is scheduled to commence on December 3rd.
