Regarding the new Electricity Act, a heated debate arose between Minister Kanchana Wijesekera and the opposition at the beginning of Parliament today.

The leader of the opposition, Mr Sajith Premadasa and parliamentarian Mr Wimal Weerawansa, expressed their opinions from one point of view and said that this draft should not be passed in haste this week and a period should be given to study it.
