Parents Demand DNA Test After Hospital Shows Wrong Baby’s Body
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The parents of a baby who died at Matara New District General Hospital are claiming that the body shown to them by the hospital staff is not their child’s.

They have requested a DNA test to confirm their suspicions. Although the Director General of Health Services has approved this request, the hospital director has objected.

Kavindya Madushani, a 24-year-old from Matara Weligama, was admitted to Matara New District General Hospital on the 22nd to give birth to her first child. After delivery, she was informed by the hospital authorities that her baby had died.

When the relatives inquired about the baby’s burial and why the father had not seen the body, the hospital staff stated that the body was sent to Colombo National Hospital.

Due to conflicting statements from the hospital staff, the relatives are highly suspicious.

Yesterday afternoon (27th), the hospital staff showed the parents a deceased baby’s body from the morgue, but the parents insisted it was not their child.

The baby’s father expressed his distress, saying, “I haven’t even seen my child’s face yet. These people send us here and there. Please… give us justice.”
