Pakistan stands with Sri Lanka: HC

The Pakistani community in Sri Lanka celebrated Pakistan’s Diamond Jubilee of Independence on 14th August.

The celebration event took place at Pakistan’s High Commission in Colombo.


Retired Maj. Gen. Umar Farooq Burki, Pakistan High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, hoisted the national flag of Pakistan in a lively ceremony at the Pakistan High Commission in Colombo.

The Pakistan High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Maj. Gen (Retd) Umar Farooq Burki, welcomed the Pakistani vessel PNS Taimur, which had been docked for two to three days.

He emphasized that Pakistan’s foreign policy is based on the vision of their founding fathers.

Which is friendship for all and hostility for none.

“We believe in whoever has social and cordial relations with all countries, particularly those in our neighborhood,” the High Commissioner stated.

According to High Commissioner Maj. Gen. (Retd) Umar Farooq Burki, both Pakistan and Sri Lanka are key members of SAARC, and strong bonds of friendship and brotherhood have developed between the two countries.

“We, like our Sri Lankan brothers and sisters, have stood by them through thick and thin. and we will continue to do so in the future, “He continued.
Diplomats, members of the Pakistani community, local dignitaries, and officers from the PNS Taimur, which is currently docked in Colombo, attended the event.
