Dr. Dipal Perera, a specialist at Lady Ridgeway Children’s Hospital in Colombo, told ‘Mawrata’ that due to the spread of a virus called Coxsackie these days, mouth disease is spreading in small children. (Sri Lanka Latest News)
He mentioned that red blisters or white watery blisters appear around the mouth as well as on the elbows and buttocks.
Dr. Deepal Perera said that since this is a virus that spreads among children for three to four days, it can also be contagious to others.
He has requested the parents to keep such children clean and separate from others and not send them to schools or kindergartens and day care centers.
Dr. Deepal said that because of this virus, the nails may fall off, but the nails will grow back, so there should be no fear.
He has also informed the parents not to be afraid of this.
