President Ranil Wickramasinghe says that if the International Monetary Fund (IMF) allocations are not received in March as expected, a cash reserve will have to be maintained for future activities.
In a tweet, the President points out that as the country is facing an economic crisis, expenditure must be managed.
The president also said that since the budget has been prepared to cover expenses for one year, money cannot be released on a temporary basis.
