The Office of the Opposition Leader has issued a statement regarding the assets and liabilities declaration of Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa.
According to the statement, a person named Jamuni Kamal Thushara lodged a complaint today (25) with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, claiming that Sajith Premadasa had failed to submit his assets and liabilities declaration.
The Opposition Leader’s Office has rejected this claim as completely baseless, noting that they had previously informed the media that the declaration was duly submitted. They emphasized that a letter dated 2025.04.23, signed by the Secretary General of Parliament Mrs. Kushani Rohanadheera, confirmed that the declaration had been received by the Secretariat of Parliament and acknowledged by Mr. Premadasa.
The statement further clarified that Mr. Premadasa’s declaration of assets and liabilities—submitted before the deadline—was reformatted into digital form and resubmitted to the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption yesterday (24). It has already been published on the official website of the Commission.
“In this context, it is evident that certain groups are attempting to carry out a smear campaign by alleging once again that Mr. Sajith Premadasa has not submitted his assets and liabilities declaration. We kindly request the media to ensure accurate information is widely disseminated,” the statement concluded.
