Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa Refutes Media Report on Mano Ganesan

Opposition Leader and Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) leader Sajith Premadasa has firmly denied a Lankadeepa news report claiming that disciplinary action is being considered against Member of Parliament Mano Ganesan for voting in favour of the budget.

In an official statement, Sajith Premadasa said the report was “completely false and baseless,” asserting that no individual or group within the Samagi Jana Sandhanaya (SJS) or the SJB had held any discussion about taking disciplinary measures against the Democratic People’s Front leader.

Sajith Premadasa condemned the publication, accusing certain “media contractors” of fabricating stories with the intention of creating divisions within the opposition at a time when the country is facing severe challenges.

He noted that similar misinformation campaigns had previously targeted him personally, with the aim of generating internal conflicts within the SJB. Since those attempts failed, Sajith Premadasa stated that those behind the campaigns are now trying to create tension between SJS party leaders and the SJB leadership.

According to Sajith Premadasa, these efforts are being driven by rejected and defeated politicians who want to weaken the united front of opposition parties committed to clean politics, thereby giving an advantage to the government.

He also criticized the media institution responsible for the report, claiming that it had been increasingly rejected by the public due to publishing false stories about him and the SJB. Sajith Premadasa alleged that the newspaper is currently struggling financially, failing to pay staff salaries, and violating workers’ rights.

Despite these attempts, Sajith Premadasa emphasized that no false propaganda will be able to fracture or destabilize the Samagi Jana Balawegaya or the broader opposition coalition.

Concluding his statement, Sajith Premadasa warned that legal action will be pursued against media institutions and individuals who continue to spread misinformation and mislead the public.
