Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa Refrains from Addressing Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena as ‘Honourable Speaker’ Following Alleged Unconstitutional Behavior

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has decided not to address Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena as ‘Honourable Speaker’ from now on, due to his unconstitutional behaviour. Sri Lanka Latest News

Also, it is reported that the leader of the opposition has decided not to address him as ‘ honourable Speaker’ but instead address only as ‘Speaker’.

It has been learned that the leader of the opposition has addressed this for the first time during the party leader’s meeting held last Monday.

In addition, the Leader of the Opposition has also decided not to allow the Speaker to participate in public meetings.

Accordingly, it has been learned that although he took permission from everyone in his speech at the funeral ceremony of Mr Ronnie De Mel, the leader of the opposition did not take permission from the speaker.
