A meeting between representatives of the Sri Lanka Joint Apparel Federation (JAAF) and Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa took place at the Office of the Leader of the Opposition.
Issuing a statement following the meeting, Opposition Leader Premadasa said:
“I had a constructive discussion with the Sri Lanka Joint Apparel Federation (JAAF) to explore a collaborative path forward. This was a non-political meeting, focused on the pressing need to safeguard the livelihoods of over 350,000 individuals directly employed in the garment industry, as well as more than one million Sri Lankans who are indirectly dependent on it.
We must take the necessary steps to secure the industry’s future by creating new opportunities and protecting our export sector.
