Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa stated that the opposition will engage in discussions within its ranks and with other opposition parties to decide whether to propose a candidate for the Speaker position. He emphasized that the decision-making process will be carried out in consultation with all members, ensuring their opinions are heard, respected, and acted upon collectively.

Premadasa, who is also the leader of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya, made these remarks in response to questions posed by journalists in Colombo earlier today.

He highlighted that the opposition comprises diverse parties with varying ideas and proposals, making it essential to engage in comprehensive discussions to reach a consensus.

Commenting further, Premadasa underscored the importance of honesty in presenting qualifications. He stated that no qualifications should be fabricated or misrepresented, as misleading the public with false information is unacceptable.
