Opposition leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa said today (2) that Mr. Ajith Mannapperuma was banned from Parliament for a month because of his involvement in Senkolaya and the person who interrupted him when he asked a question about economic criminals was banned from Parliament for only 2 weeks said in Parliament.
Mr. Chamal Rajapaksa, who was the Chairman of the Privileges Committee, signed the decision taken under the chairmanship of Mr. Ajith Rajapaksa and he should have said that he would withdraw that decision, but he did not do so. Therefore, Mr. Chamal Rajapaksa as the Chairman of the Privileges Committee has no moral right to announce a separate decision. The opposition leader added.
Therefore, opposition leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa requested the speaker to withdraw the proposal in this agenda and enter into separate discussions.
