Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa emphasized in Parliament today that even after 16 years, no government has been able to uncover the root cause behind the murder of senior journalist Lasantha Wickramatunga. He noted that Lasantha’s daughter, Ahimsa Wickramatunga, has even presented the case to the United Nations, seeking justice for her father’s brutal killing.

Premadasa also highlighted that 16 years have passed since the savage attack on the Sirasa Media Network. He commended the contributions of both Lasantha Wickramatunga and Rajamahendran, who stood as pillars of justice and fairness in the media. The Opposition Leader urged the government to take decisive action to uncover the truth and deliver justice in both instances.

Addressing Parliament, Premadasa reiterated that the Sirasa Media Network has always upheld intellectual scrutiny and journalistic integrity. He stressed the need for a thorough investigation into the attack on the media institution, emphasizing its significance in ensuring freedom of expression and protecting the rights of journalists.

Furthermore, he called for an inquiry into the terrorist attack on the Sirasa Media Network, describing it as a deliberate act to silence the media. Premadasa urged the government to establish the truth behind this incident, take necessary legal actions, and deliver long-overdue justice.
