SJB has decided to issue a letter of acceptance for the debate involving Anura Kumar and Sajith Premadasa, the opposition leader, within the next few days. This letter, signed by MP Nalin Bandara, will be forwarded to Mr. Tulin Silva, the General Secretary of JVP. It is anticipated that the letter will be handed over to the JVP General Secretary in the presence of Mr Nalin Bandara.

Initially, Sajaba MP Nalin Bandara proposed a debate challenge to the JVP Economic Council regarding economic development. Subsequently, Sunil Hadunnetti suggested that, considering the presidential election, a debate between Anura and Sajith should be arranged. Opposition leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa agreed to this proposal.

Consequently, yesterday, Mr Nalinda Jayatissa communicated via letter to Mr. Ranjith Maddumabandara, Secretary General of SJB, with a suggestion of 4 days out of which a day to be decided for the debate.
