Opposition representatives have raised accusations against the current government, claiming it has yet to fulfill any of the promises made during the election campaign, which were pledged to be implemented immediately after the new president took office.

They highlighted that during the previous election, both President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Malima leaders assured the public that they would release the names of former ministers who obtained liquor licenses under former President Ranil Wickramasinghe’s administration. However, they allege that this promise remains unfulfilled.

Furthermore, they stated that Malima leaders also vowed to reveal a list of opposition MPs who allegedly received millions in decentralized funds by collaborating with the former president. Yet, this list has not been made public.

In addition, the opposition criticized the government for failing to abolish the privileges enjoyed by former presidents, including official residences, vehicles, and pensions—another key promise made during the campaign.

The opposition also pointed out that, despite pledges to immediately prosecute wrongdoers once Malima assumed power, no investigations into major frauds or corruption under the previous government have commenced. While a few inquiries have been initiated, they argue that the government has not taken any meaningful action regarding serious corruption cases.
