Dr. Aruna Jayasekara, director of the Maharagama ‘Apeksha’ Hospital, states that between 950-1200 new cancer patients are diagnosed every month. (Sri Lanka Latest News)

The director points out that an increase in the number of new cancer patients is seen in Sri Lanka as well as all over the world and many factors such as diet, environmental factors, alcohol consumption, smoking and mental stress are the reasons for this.

He said that 75-80 percent of childhood cancer patients can be completely cured, and if treatment is started as soon as cancer is first diagnosed, Nittawa is a disease that can be cured.

However, Dr. Jayasekara emphasizes that since donors provide most of the drugs needed by cancer patients, their services are essential.

Thus, the director further requests the donors to call the telephone number 0777468503 and get more details if anyone wants to give drug treatment to a cancer patient.
