Mr. Sajith Premadasa, the opposition leader, has posted a twitter message protesting the tear gas and water attack by the police against the National People’s Power protest held today.
The announcement shows that the government is trying to silence the opposition through this.
It was stated as follows.
“No leader or party is ever completely right, which is why dissenting voices must be tolerated in a democracy.
Today, the protestors of National People’s Force were fired with tear gas and water cannons and many were seriously injured.
The government’s threat against the public is clear. The government is telling the people to keep quiet and stand aside.”
