The trade unions have decided to launch a massive agitation at the Parliament roundabout on November 13, when next year’s budget is to be presented to Parliament. Sri Lanka Latest News
The trade unions have decided to launch this campaign to demand a salary increase and an allowance of 20,000 rupees in the face of the ever-increasing cost of living.
They point out that after the salary increase in 2016, no salary increase has been made for public servants for seven years.
Accordingly, it has been learned that many trade unions representing all government institutions have already expressed their agreement to join this protest.
As a starting point for this, since last Thursday (26), the Port, Railway, Fisherman’s, Nurses’ and Teachers’ Unions have arranged to hold protest campaigns demanding a salary increase from the budget at their workplaces.
