The chairpersons of several committees of the Parliament recently expressed their concern regarding the lack of a clear plan for the Ministry of Finance and its affiliated institutions to alleviate the current crisis economic situation. Sri Lanka Latest News

That was when several institutions, including the Ministry of Finance, were recently called before the COPA Committee.

To investigate the delay in implementing the recommendations given by several parliamentary committees to increase the government’s revenue, officials including the heads of the Ministry of Finance, Inland Revenue Department, Excise Department and Sri Lanka Customs were called to the Committee on Government Accounts (COPA Committee).

Speaking there, the Chairman of the Sectoral Monitoring Committee on National Economic and Physical Planning, Mr. Mahinanda Aluthgamage pointed out that the intervention of the Department and the Ministry is not enough to amend the Inland Revenue Act.
