Paffrel organization says that it requests the government led by the President not to bring any amendment that would lead to a referendum at this time. Sri Lanka Latest News

Its executive director Mr. Rohana Hettiarachchi said that if the country is facing an economic crisis and conducting a referendum by spending ten billion rupees, it is a financial crime.

He also mentioned that it is not acceptable for the government to present amendments leading to a referendum at a time when the local government elections have been postponed saying that there is no money.

Mr. Hettiarachchi also said that this shows how the government, which has avoided the local government election, is acting for the survival of its power.
