Opener Pathum Nissanka hit an unbeaten 52-ball 98 to help Sri Lanka thrash Zimbabwe by 9 wickets in the fifth game of the Pakistan T20I Tri-Series in Rawalpindi.

Chasing a modest target of 147 runs, Sri Lanka crossed the line in 16.2 overs.

Kusal Mendis scored an unbeaten run-a-ball 25.

During the innings, Nissanka also became the top scorer for Sri Lanka in T20Is with 2326 runs, going past Kusal Perera’s 2305.

Earlier after opting to bat first, Zimbabwe posted a below-par 146/5 in the allotted 20 overs.

Spinners Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana took two wickets apiece to restrict the Zimbabweans to below 150 in the must-win encounter.

Both Hasaranga and Theekshana finished with identical figures of 2/23 in four overs while skipper Dasun Shanaka took the other scalp.

For Zimbabwe, Ryan Burl hit an unbeaten 37 off 26 deliveries.

Skipper Sikandar Raza also hit 37 while Brian Bennett scored 34.

Sri Lanka next meet Pakistan at the same venue on Thursday.

The Dasun Shanaka-led team must defeat Pakistan to secure a place in the final of the Tri-seri
