Two newly established companies have informed electricity workers to continue maintaining the electricity supply by carrying out the duties they have performed so far.

This was stated in announcements issued by Electricity Distribution Lanka Private Limited and National Transmission Network Service Provider Private Limited.

The companies have requested electricity workers to continue maintaining the supply service in a context where all services related to electricity supply have been declared essential services through a Gazette notification.

According to the announcements, failure to perform assigned duties is considered a serious offense under the Essential Services Regulations, and disciplinary action will be taken against those who fail to comply.

Therefore, the companies have further emphasized that workers must immediately carry out the duties assigned to the electricity supply service.

The announcements also state that work is currently underway to provide appointments to all employees, and steps will be taken to issue those appointments in the future.
