Nearly 30 parliament staffers apply for service extensions.

With the decision to retire civil servants after the age of sixty, a group of senior officials serving in the Parliament who are about to retire have decided to meet the President to increase the age limit to sixty three.

It is reported that there are nearly thirty people between the ages of 56-60.

However, the government has decided to retire nearly thirty people working in the Parliamentary General Secretariat staff from December 31 after completing 60 years.

It is reported that 220 employees of nine departments of the Parliament have signed a letter and delivered it to the Speaker, requesting that the decision not be changed.

Nearly eight hundred employees work in nine departments of the Parliament.

Meanwhile, today (30th), the Parliamentary Staff Committee, which met under the chairmanship of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardene has also decided not to change the decision to retire employees after sixty years according to the government’s decision.
