The National Building Research Institute (NBRO) has issued a red alert for landslides in two areas of the island, urging residents to evacuate immediately. Sri Lanka Latest News
The alert was issued at 8:00 a.m. today (26) and will remain in effect for the next 24 hours, until 8:00 a.m. tomorrow (27).
Accordingly, the red alert applies to the following areas:
Kandy District: Ududumbara
Nuwara Eliya District: Walapane, Hanguranketha, Niladandahinna, and Mathurata
Meanwhile, landslide warnings have been issued for seven additional districts advising residents to remain alert, while another 12 districts have been placed under a “vigilance” advisory.
