An investigation conducted by the National Audit Office has revealed that the National Lottery Board’s ‘Mahajana Sampatha’ and ‘Jathika Sampatha’ lottery machines are sometimes faulty. Sri Lanka Latest News

In cases where the machine used for drawing the ‘Mahajana Sampatha’ lottery is not working properly, the numbers, letters and signs obtained by the machine are not given correctly once and the balls with those numbers, letters and signs are stuck in the machines, they had to be operated repeatedly for draw winning numbers. The report also states that it was observed by the participating audit staffs.

The audit office also said that after pointing out the faulty condition of these machines, it was included in the board’s action plan to buy new machines by spending fifteen crore rupees, but so far no new machines have been purchased.

The management of the board in reply to the questions of the audit office states that the machines used for drawing public resource lotteries have been in use for more than fifteen years and the national resource drawing machine has also experienced errors in some cases.

Because of this, the management has informed the board of directors regarding the purchase of two machines at the same time.
