The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka has successfully concluded the session on “Bilateral Trade & Investment between Sri Lanka & Pakistan on 11 July 2023 at the National Chamber Auditorium. The High Commissioner of Pakistan His Excellency Major General (R) Umar Farooq Burki, HI (M) graced the event as the special guest speaker and he was assisted by Ms. Asmma Kamal, Trade & Investment Attaché of the High Commission in Colombo.
National Chamber President Mr. Deepal Nelson with his opening remarks welcomed the Pakistan High Commissioner in Sri Lanka and Sri Lankan High Commissioner designate to and other diplomatic officials. Special invitees attended representing Export Development Board (EDB), Board of Investment (BOI), Department of Commerce (DOC), Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sri Lanka, Industrial Development Board (IDB), Pakistan-Sri Lanka Business Council, National Craft Council and the media entities.
Admiral (Retired) Ravindra Wijegunaratne, Sri Lankan High Commissioner designate to Pakistan addressing the gathering stated that Pakistan Sri Lanka trade can be developed to a greater extent, through the existing cordial relationship between the two Countries.
Valuable information on trade, investment and opportunities for export/import were discussed. The participants were able to freely interact with the High Commissioner and his officials and discuss posibilities with regard to trade & investments in Pakistan.
