National Chamber successfully concludes the bilateral session with Maldives l Sri Lanka Latest News

The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka has successfully concluded the session on “Bilateral Trade & Investment between Sri Lanka & Maldives on 18 May 2023 at the National Chamber Auditorium. The High Commissioner of Maldives His Excellency Ali Faiz graced the event as the keynote speaker and he was assisted by Ms. Fathimath Ghina, Deputy High Commissioner and Mr. Hussain Mazin, First Secretary of the High Commission in Colombo.

The event was virtually attended by Ms. Uzma Abdul Latheef, Investor Relations Executive of Ministry of Economic Development in Maldives and made a special presentation on the bilateral trade opportunities available in Maldives.

Other dignitaries who connected online were Dr. Hussain Niyaaz, Secretary of Economic Cooperation Department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives and Mr. Chandana Weerasena, DG Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sri Lanka.

National Chamber President Mr. Deepal Nelson with his opening remarks welcomed the Maldives High Commissioner, other diplomatic officials, Ministry of Economic Development in Maldives and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives officials. Special invitees attended representing Export Development Board (EDB), Department of Commerce (DOC), Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sri Lanka and the media entities.

Valuable information on trade, investment and opportunities for export/import were discussed. The participants were able to freely interact with the High Commissioner and his officials and discuss issues with regard to trade & investments in Maldives.

National Chamber is planning to conduct follow up B2B session with the intention of developing business between the two countries.
