The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) successfully hosted the “Meet the Ambassador: Bilateral Trade Between Sri Lanka and France” session on 28th April 2026 at the National Chamber’s Auditorium. The highly interactive engagement brought together members of the business community, exporters, importers, and government representatives for a productive exchange on strengthening trade ties between the two nations.
The session was graced by H.E. Rémi Lambert, Ambassador of France to Sri Lanka, who attended as the Special Guest Speaker. He was accompanied by Mr. Philippe Fouet, Economic Counsellor, and Mr. Youri Desvigne-Hansch, Deputy Economic Counsellor of the French Embassy in Sri Lanka.Adding a valuable bilateral dimension to the dialogue, Ms. Sanju Dassanayeke, Chargé d’Affaires a.i., and Ms. Prasadi Boomawalage, First Secretary and Commercial Representative of the Sri Lankan Embassy in France, joined the session virtually, ensuring a well-rounded and comprehensive exchange of perspectives.
Both parties engaged in an in-depth discussion covering key areas including current business trends between Sri Lanka and France, key features of the French economy, trade potential between the two countries, opportunities for export, import, and investment, as well as business support services available in France. Participants also had the opportunity to raise their questions directly with the French and Sri Lankan Embassy representatives, making the session especially informative and engaging.
The session further provided a valuable networking opportunity, allowing participants to engage directly with H.E. Ambassador Lambert and other senior officials, as well as government representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, the Board of Investment Sri Lanka, the Department of Commerce Sri Lanka, and the Sri Lanka Export Development Board.
As a pioneering institution in Sri Lanka’s business landscape, the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka extends its sincere gratitude to H.E. Rémi Lambert, the French Embassy in Sri Lanka, the Sri Lankan Embassy in France, all relevant government authorities, and the participants for their valuable contributions in making this engagement a resounding success. The NCCSL remains committed to facilitating such meaningful platforms that advance and strengthen bilateral business ties between Sri Lanka and its global partners.
