It is reported that former Environment Minister Naseer Ahmed has taken home the two luxury jeeps worth nearly 20 crore rupees issued to him during his ministerial tenure without returning them after losing the ministership. Sri Lanka Latest News
About two months ago, Mr Nasir Ahmed lost his position as a minister as well as his position as a member of parliament based on an order given by the Supreme Court and since then it has been a serious mistake for him to keep the jeeps that were given to him without returning them.
During his tenure as the Minister, the Ministry of Environment had given Mr. Nasir Ahmed two luxury jeeps bearing numbers CAS-9010 and CAO 4118.
The Environment Ministry also filed a complaint with the Mirihana Special Crime Investigation Unit on the 7th regarding the non-handover of the two jeeps after losing the position of minister.
In this regard, the Ministry of Environment informed former Minister Naseer Ahmed on several occasions and in all those occasions, he said that the two related vehicles will be handed over to the Presidential Secretariat. But till now the two vehicles have not been handed over to the Presidential Secretariat.
In this regard, the Ministry of Environment says that vehicles issued by its Ministry cannot be handed over to the Presidential Secretariat.
