A proposal that Hambantota District Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa should be appointed as the presidential candidate of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna was passed unanimously yesterday (25) at the meeting of the party’s Matale district representative.Sri Lanka Latest News
However, it is special that Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna’s Matale district leader Janaka Bandara Thennakone and his son, Minister of State for Defense Pramita Bandara Thennakone, were not invited to this meeting.
The party’s secretary MP Advocate Sagara Kariyawasam, MP Namal Rajapaksa, MP Nalaka Bandara Kotte Goda, Indika Anuruddha, Janaka Tissa Kuttiarachchi Rohana Dissanayake and members of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna from Matale district were also present.
It is also learned that the local government representatives have unanimously approved the proposal that Mr. Namal Rajapaksa should be appointed as the presidential candidate.
Most of the people gathered believed that by using the image of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, significant gains can be made in the upcoming elections.
The meeting was held at a hotel in Matale.
