The Gem and Jewellery Authority has visited the site to investigate the mysterious “blue” rock that has appeared near Deltotawatta Temple in Galaha, according to Sri Lanka Latest News.
Reports indicate that a portion of a black rock, recovered from a landslide in the Deltotawatta area of Galaha, has started to show a bright blue coloration.
The exact nature of this unusually attractive rock has yet to be determined.
The Naula Regional Office of the National Gem and Jewellery Authority has stepped in to examine the matter.
Mr. P.D.A.P. Subhasinghe of the office stated:
“Today, our mobile laboratory (Mobile Lab) will be brought to the site to conduct a special test. After completing this test, an official conclusion can be made regarding the type of rock this is. Is it a precious gem or another mineral species? Everything will be revealed accordingly.”
