Mrs. Shiranthi Rajapaksa has informed authorities that she will be unable to appear before the Police Financial Crimes Division today (27) due to personal reasons, according to Sri Lanka Latest News.

The Police confirmed that a written notice regarding her inability to attend has been submitted to the Financial Crimes Division through her lawyer.

Last Friday, Mrs. Rajapaksa, the wife of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, had been issued a notice to appear before the Police Financial Crimes Division at 9.00 a.m. today (27) to provide a statement.

The summons was issued as part of ongoing investigations into alleged financial irregularities in the account maintained under the name ‘Siriliya’ during Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa’s tenure as President.

However, Mrs. Shiranthi Rajapaksa has requested that her appearance be postponed due to personal reasons and has asked for a new date to be scheduled in two weeks.
