It is reported that Mr Ali Sabri Rahim, Member of Parliament of Puttalam district, has illegally acquired a piece of land belonging to the government with commercial value in Puttalam town..Sri Lanka Latest News

The Adala land is said to be a land of nearly 25 perches located adjacent to the Telecom Institute in Puttalam and in the middle of the old Ashoka Cinema Hall.

It is said that this land has been acquired by the councilor by misusing his powers.

It is alleged that the relevant land is currently the highest commercial value in Puttalam city and it has been covered with sheets by the MP.

Puttalam District Member of Parliament Mr Ali Sabri Rahim said this when asked about the allegations in this connection.

“I have not captured this land. The land adjacent to it was acquired based on a lease. It was done to start a parking lot for an international company belonging to my family.

Because of the land that was adjacent to it, there was an obstacle to our work site for the international company belonging to my family. Because other drug addicts always travel there and come to do drugs.

That is why the adjacent land is surrounded and covered with sheets until our construction is completed. Without it, we have not caught it.

Also, we had letters because the Puttalam Divisional Secretary wanted to take revenge on me. He started saying that he was doing all this.

When asked about the allegations raised by the councillor and the ownership of the land concerned, Puttalam Regional Secretary Mr Sampath Piyal Virasekara said this.

“I am not angry with the MP, I am doing my duty. I informed the councillor and sent letters to the councillor to stop it immediately.

But since he has not left the place yet, the higher officials have been informed about the incident.

He started saying that this is the land owned by the Divisional Secretary for whom I am responsible, so I will not hesitate to enforce the law.
