MOTA Colombo Hosts Thomian Hockey Day

Matale Old Thomians’ Association – Colombo Branch (MOTA Colombo) is excited to announce the first-ever “Thomian Hockey Day” at Matale, set to take place within the St. Thomas College premises on Saturday, March 16, 2024. This event comes as a celebration of the remarkable achievements of the College Team across all age groups throughout the year 2023.

The event will unfold in two distinctive sessions, commencing with an outdoor open session from 8:30 am to 11:00 am and an indoor session from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. Mr. Lakshman Silva, the Past President and Patron, will grace the occasion as the chief guest for the day.

The day’s agenda promises a range of engaging activities, including an Exhibition Match between Past Players of the School and STC-‘The College-Eleven’, a Knowledge-sharing Session, a distribution of T-shirts and Accessories, a Session on sports medicine and nutrition to parents and players, and the Felicitation of Young Talents & Administrative Contributors.

MOTA Colombo, comprising past Thomians residing in and around Colombo, was established in 1987 and has been conducting a series of activities for the betterment of the school over the years. Recently, to coincide with the school’s 150th Anniversary, MOTA Colombo organised the Hi-Expo Higher Education Exhibition, 5 ‘S’ and Leadership Training Programme for academic and non-academic staff, One-Time Scholarship programme, production of an anniversary song, refurbishing of the school’s old Pavilion Building (continuing), while also continuing general annual gatherings and fundraising activities such as Sports Fiestas, Thomian Nite, and Thomian Padura. Old Thomians willing to join MOTA Colombo are invited to apply for membership via the www.motacolombo.lk website.
